Watermelon Bowl Ceramic: Most people head to Mokbar for the hotcakes. What they’re sleeping on is the Matcha Melon bowl, which, as the name suggests is a bowl of melon with fun Lil elements of matcha.
By “fun Lil elements of matcha,” BTW, I mean actual matcha noodles. Noodles made with matcha! NOODLES THAT ARE GREEN AND SWEET AND DELICIOUS BECAUSE THERE IS MATCHA IN THEM.
Lest the concept sounds a bit strange to you, know that chefs are wary of the sweetness. In the hollowed-out melon bowl and on top of the noodles, they place spicy shrimp, pickled watermelon rinds, Gochujang sauce, quite a few sesame seeds, and a healthy dose of pureed watermelon juice. Each bite yields a sweetness and sourness, and, yeah, spiciness that you wouldn’t know to expect from looking at the pink and green of it all.
And, sure, you can get a hotcake or two to go with it (no judgment here, you guys), but note that the watermelon is a feast in and of itself. Share it with your partner! Share it with your friend! Share it with your friend and your partner and invite your family too! There’s plenty to go around. I promise.
